About Panoramic Photography

Panoramas are quite impressive when exhibiting areas that extend past the limiting size of standard sized photographs. They are especially effective for expressing spaciousness. There are generally two types of panoramic photographs: full panoramas and partial panoramas.

A full panorama provides a complete 360° view of an area. This type of panorama is most effective for exhibiting large spaces that do not have major obstacles (like a wall or large post) near the camera location. Good examples of areas that benefit from full panoramas are auditoriums, residential and commercial exteriors, and showrooms.

A partial panorama provides less than a 360° view of an area but more than the limiting area of a standard photograph. This type of panorama is most effective for exhibiting large spaces that have major obstacles (not of interest to the viewer) extremely close to the camera location. Good examples of areas that benefit from partial panoramas are a row of video games, a display case, and interiors that must be photographed from a corner.

A virtual tour is the combination of full and/or partial panoramas that are linked together by hotspots. Virtual tours give viewers the ability to navigate from one area to the next by simply clicking on the imbedded hotspots.

Ask Spherical Snapshots how we can customize your panoramas with features like hotspots (that navigate viewers to other Web locations), auto-spin (that automatically spin panorama), and identifiers (that draw attention to specific areas).
